Brevard County, Florida

1855

Brevard County was named for either Dr. Ephraim Brevard, author of the Mecklenberg, North Carolina, Declaration of Independence or Theodore Washington Brevard, a former state comptroller. It was formerly St. Lucia County (1844-1855).
